"No talking gargoyles here"

Films: The Hunchback of the Morgue (1973)

Alias: Wolfgang Gotho, the Primordial

Type: Natural (Gohto), Man-made (Primordial)

Location: Haunted home

Height/Weight: That of an average human

Affiliation: Neutral

Summary: We all remember the timeless tale of the hunchbacked Quasimodo, right? Well, guess what? He isn't here. But his more demented cousin is!

History: Dr. Orla was frankly out of his mind. Thinking he hit the jackpot in terms of scientific breakthroughs, he fed a giant mass of flesh and goop a lot of human heads. But he would need to get these heads somehow, so he enlisted the help of Wolfgang Gotho, a mentally handicapped hunchback.

Notable Kills: See Final Fate.

Final Fate: The mass eventually becomes the Primordial, a humanoid mass of filth that kills indiscriminately. Gotho and the freak eventually fall into acid after an inevitable struggle.

Powers/Abilities: None

Weakness: Anything conventional.

Scariness Factor: 3.5-We admit, Gotho had a bit of a mean streak, but he was just following orders. The Primordial on the other hand is pretty damn hideous, looking like raw sewage given human form.

Trivia: -Live rats were used in this film. Many were burned to death too. Not cool.

-While a real life corpse's head was allowed, the director couldn't stomach it, and they had to use a fake one.

It seems Hunchbacks get lost often.

He's only as we make him.

Looks like the movie version of Skeletor holds sway.

Another cause: False connections to Poe's work.

You realized he smothered someone with those. Have some taste.
